Your title and description are your advert in the search results. Type them in, watch the preview update, and fix anything that gets cut off.
Writing titles that get clicked.
Lead with what people search
Put the service and area first, like "Accountant Sunnybank", then your brand at the end. Google gives a little more weight to words near the start, and searchers scan the first few words.
Keep titles under about 600 pixels
Google measures titles in pixels, not characters, which is roughly 50 to 60 characters. Longer titles get cut off with an ellipsis.
Write descriptions like a short ad
Aim for about 150 to 155 characters: what you do, who it's for, and a reason to click, like "Book a free first meeting". Google bolds words that match the search.
Make every page unique
Each page needs its own title and description. Copying the same one across pages makes it harder for Google to know which page to show.
Google sometimes rewrites snippets, but a clear, accurate title and description are still your best chance of controlling how you appear. See what Google looks for in 2026.
